Tida & Michael are one of those rare couples (for me) that didn’t actually meet me before booking me for their wedding. Tida found my work online, liked what she saw, and booked me. Sometimes it really can be that simple. We did meet up about a month before the wedding though so they could show me around the wedding venue and ask me any questions they had. This was great to do because it always nice to put a face to a name.
Tida & Michael were actually already married, but being Navy doctors, and living at the whim of their commanders and their assignments, they weren’t able to have a proper event the first time around so they made sure they did it in style for this technical ‘renewal’ of their vows. Other than the fact they were already married it was exactly like every other wedding; the cute anticipation, the nerves, the love, the party, etc…
So… I arrived at the Bethesda Regency Hyatt, full of hope that it would stop raining, but alas I knew it wouldn’t. Its a good thing I had brought some matching umbrellas with me so that we could get some shots outside. After checking in with both the bride and groom and making sure they were still up for shooting some portraits outside we picked our ‘first-look’ location and got right to work. Thankfully Tida had some bridesmaids escort her out under cover of the umbrellas to stay as fresh as she could for the rest of the day. We immediately nixed the idea of family portraits being taken outside as I didn’t want anybodies grandmother to slip and fall on the wet concrete because of me. We did make sure we got our couples portraits outside though and I’m awfully glad we did. Tida was a trooper and I can’t thank her enough for be willing to brave the rain. It was well worth it!
After our portraits it was time for the ceremony and one of the cutest flowers girls I’ve seen in a while (see pics below and you’ll understand why). Having a Navy Chaplin as your officiant is a fun way to get married. I like it when the officiant cracks jokes.
After the ceremony it was time for one of the the rocking-est parties I have seen in a while. Military men (and women) can PARTY!
You’ve gotta love a guy with a little bit of hardware on his chest!
I don’t think I explained the ‘first-look’ to Michael all that well. He’s supposed to be looking nervous right here but I just couldn’t get that smile of his face!
Bridesmaids were required due to the rain.
Oh Tida; you look so concerned. It’s only rain.
Step 1: Cute flower girl THROWING petals in the air.
Step 2: Cute flower girl feeling bad about making a mess and picking up after herself.
Step 3: Cute flower girl feeling bad about making a mess and being a little slow about picking up her petals so a few guests helped her out.
This best mans speech might be the best I have ever heard (and I have heard over 100!).
Best of luck for the future guys! And congrats on the little one!
