Washington DC Wedding Photographer: Stephen Gosling Photography
The first thing I want to say is that I am under no illusion that people read my blog, let alone other photographers. I in no way think that the way I do things is the correct way and I am not writing these posts to tell people how to shoot or how to run their businesses. I am however going to be writing about my experiences; my failures, my successes, etc. If these posts help anyone, great! If not; no big deal.
That being said…
I think I’m kind of late to this party, but oh well. When it comes to meeting up with prospective couples (and even booked couples), not having my own dedicated full-time studio; I have a couple of spots that I usually like to meet up. But depending on the time of day, week and year the places that we choose to meet can be busy and/or loud. Now at some point I do hope to have some sort of studio space but until then the coffee shop and wine bar meetings will continue to be the norm. There is still something to be said to meeting someone in person, and I especially like having my prospective couples see and feel the quality of the albums that I produce. But for the couples whose schedules are just too busy, or they are out of state/country there is a new time and life saving service that I have come across, and said service is Skype.
Skype is a perfect way to meet and chat with people face-to-face from the convenience of your own home! And the best part about it is that if you make a Skype-to-Skype call, it’s free! And it’s also free to download.
Now, you do have to make sure that the room you’re talking in has a tidy background but apart from that it does take away the stress of arriving to the coffee shop super early so I can stake out the table I really want. And worrying about the place being too busy or too loud, etc.
So, if you’re looking for a convenient way to meet and talk with clients but still have the personal connection of actually seeing who you are talking to, then I can not recommend a better service that Skype.
